Imagine the impact we could have by using the internet to spread kindness, compassion and empathy! Yesterday, on Pink Shirt Day, we took time out to discuss ways and means to combat cyberbullying. In today’s digital world, there is potential for our kids to be targeted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and unfortunately, the internet doesn’t have a delete button! Obviously, this is cause for concern and a call to action.
Did you know 2/3 youth have faced bullying either over their cell phones or online? Cyberbullying can be aggressive, relentless, and anonymous. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks to organizations like PREVNet, Canada’s authority on bullying, there are resources and supports aimed at stopping the violence and aiding victims.
With a focus on digital literacy for parents, PrevNet has compiled a comprehensive list of Canadian cyberbullying resources. All of the information is up to date and has been vetted for accuracy. Take a moment to visit their resource page – because “Nice Needs No Filter.”
