On the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, a new day is on the horizon. A day of giving. A day of hope. A day and a movement, we are inspired to join.
In the same way retailers, and we must confess tech companies, scramble to take part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the giving community comes together in support of Giving Tuesday. Dare we say the giving community is an impressive community. A community best described by the Giving Tuesday organizational team, and we quote,
“GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners - nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals - to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness. Across Canada and around the world, GivingTuesday unites communities by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another.”
Granted, there are countless, well-deserving Canadian charities and non-profit organizations to support, this year at RW Networks, we have chosen to make a donation to and volunteer our time with Project Watershed. Working in partnership with the Komoks First Nation, Project Watershed is moving forward to purchase and restore the former Field Sawmill Site on the Courtenay river. In a nutshell, they are working to unpave paradise! In today’s hectic world, it’s encouraging to be part of a small environmental change in the heart of our community and we are excited to be volunteering with this amazing group of people.
