Find yourself searching for coffee shops while on a quest to stay connected? Nervous when accessing public Wi-Fi’s? You may be surprised to learn that when you leave home with a smartphone in your pocket, you are essentially your own mobile hotspot. Advances in smartphone technology mean the lion’s share of devices have a built-in mobile hotspot function.
Essentially, tech savvy folk now have the ability to create an internet connection for other mobile devices – no cables required.
Basically, your phone creates its own secure Wi-Fi network and allows multiple users to share your mobile data plan. However, although sharing is caring, be warned that any data used by the connected devices will be deducted from YOUR personal data plan.
How to Hotspot? To begin, verify that your cell phone agreement allows tethering, and simply follow a few quick and easy steps:
Android Users:
Go to Settings

Tap the slider next to Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot to enter Hotspot mode
Apple iOS Users:
Go to Settings
Choose Cellular
Tap on Set Up Personal Hotspot
Go to Settings
Chose Personal Hotspot
Tap the button to turn your personal hotspot on
Agree to Wi-Fi and USB only
…because as we previously mentioned, sharing means caring and tis the Season!
