Time flies when you are having fun!

It seems like yesterday when Microsoft introduced Windows 7 as the latest, greatest operating system. Eagerly we jumped on board, excited to explore all the new features. In a blink of an eye, ten years have passed and support for Windows 7 is coming to an end effective January 14, 2020.

What does end of support mean? Excellent question! Never fear, your computer will still work however, Microsoft will no longer offer:

  • Technical support

  • Software updates

  • Security updates

  • Security fixes / patches

Consequently, by continuing to use your Windows 7 computer, without the ongoing security updates, you will be at a greater risk for malware and viruses. The time is now to consider an upgrade to Windows 10. Although it is possible to install W10 on your “ancient” machine, it may be time to consider the purchase of a new device. Today’s computers offer fantastic speeds and enhanced performance thanks to solid state drives and greatly improved batteries.

In preparation for an upgrade remember to backup your files and photos to an external hard drive or the cloud. We highly recommend OneDrive as your cloud computing solution. OneDrive is a Microsoft cloud storage service that lets you store your personal files in one place, share them with others, and find them from any device connected to the Internet. With OneDrive you can:

  • Access your files from any device. Imagine using your phone, tablet and computer all in the same day and having your updates automagically sync across all your devices.

  • Be productive even when you are offline. With OneDrive you have the ability to access your files without being online. Your important documents are always with you.

  • Be secure. Your files are stored in the cloud, and OneDrive is encrypted using SSL.

  • Share files. Sharing files, folders and pictures with colleagues, friends and family is easy. Simply send a link to your OneDrive folder.

Naturally, upgrading and adopting both a new computer and a new operating system can feel daunting. We are ready, willing and able to chat with you about your specific technology wish list. Based on our discussions, we will develop a list of recommendations based on your wish list and budget. We always strive to deliver custom solutions at the lowest price possible.
