When we think of technology and nature, we usually rush to unplug and venture out into the back-country for much needed downtime. However, this BC Day Long Weekend, you might consider keeping your smartphone handy and joining Canadians from coast to coast in the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Big Backyard BioBlitz!
Thousands of volunteers nationwide will be observing and documenting plants, animals, birds and fungi. Every observation counts! In fact, from the rarest butterfly to common backyard weeds like dandelions, bio blitz findings are shared with scientific data repositories including the Global Biodiversity Information Facility to aid scientists. All we need to do is simply observe.
