Full disclosure. We are not dog people. Sure, cute puppy eyes elicit a smile, but we have never owned a fur baby nor felt the desire to deep dive into the land of pet ownership. However, times change and suddenly we find ourselves grandparents to two wonderful pups named Bubbles and Arlo. Along with the prestigious title of Fur Grandparents, comes the occasional and always welcome doggy daycare duty, and truth be told we love it!
We have learned first hand that dog-friendly workspaces can be beneficial for both people and pets. Here are a few of the advantages:
Stress relief: Studies have shown that spending time with animals can reduce stress levels and increase feelings of relaxation, which can lead to improved productivity and job satisfaction.
Improved mood: Dogs are known for their ability to lift spirits and improve overall mood. Having a furry friend around can help create a more positive work environment, leading to increased employee engagement and motivation.
Increased socialization: Dogs can help facilitate social interaction among employees. They can serve as conversation starters, encourage people to take breaks and engage with each other, and help build relationships.
Boost in creativity: Taking short breaks to play with a dog can provide a mental reset that allows employees to return to their work with fresh ideas and renewed focus.
Increased physical activity: Taking a dog for a walk or playing with them during breaks can provide employees with a reason to get up and move around, which can help combat the negative effects of sitting for long periods of time.
Attracting and retaining employees: Offering a pet-friendly workplace can be a desirable perk for potential employees, and can help retain current employees who value a pet-friendly culture.
Improved customer relationships: Some customers may enjoy interacting with a friendly dog while conducting business, leading to more positive customer experiences and potentially increased customer loyalty.
We could ramble on and on about the benefits of an office dog and pet-friendly workplace but duty calls … it’s time for WALKIES!
